The Railway Stage & Beer Café presents:
TODDCastPodcast Friday Nights Vol. 9
Owlface (Vancouver) // https://owlface.band/
Remember a time when musicians didn’t rely on computers and autotune? A time when backing tracks weren’t the norm? Owlface does. Energetic and raw, they have a sound that falls somewhere in the sonic landscape between Queens of the Stone Age and Soundgarden. Owlface would have been right at home in Seattle circa 1994.
The band garnered some much-deserved recognition last year when Todd Hancock played the single 'Triceratops' from their first EP 'In Spiral Sleep' on his Toddcast Podcast, calling it “a contender for indie song of the year.” It was that song that caught the attention of producer/engineer Matt Di Pomponio, who mixed their soon to be released EP, including their newest single 'Roses'.
No strangers to the stage, Vincent Fournier (vocals and guitar) and Devon Forsythe (drums and percussion) have drawn on their punk, metal, prog, psychedelic, and alt rock influences to build a sound that separates them from the generic, glossy, gridded rock that has permeated the scene.
In recent months, amidst writing songs and preparing for the release of their upcoming EP, the band gained killer bassist/vocalist Kendall Wooding -- imagine a hybrid of young Debbie Harry and Joan Jett. Oozing talent and style, Wooding is a force to be reckoned with and an awesome addition to the band. If you have the opportunity to take in the threesome’s captivating live show, you will see that their musical talent and chemistry is undeniable.
2018 will see Owlface releasing another EP and tearing up stages across Canada and beyond in support of the album. In the meantime, look out for their newest single, 'Roses', hitting the web and your favourite music players at the end of September 2017.
Hale Road (Vancouver) //
Hard Rock/Metal band from Vancouver, British Columbia. Members of local bands Angel Down and Savenone have teamed up with drummer Jon Fitchett and bass player Zac Baust to unleash something that Gordie, Joel and Richard have been working on for a few years now. "Some of the killer songs we are recording now we actually wrote years ago, so it's nice to finally get them finished and share them with the world," says guitarist Joel Logan.
The band is currently finishing up their first 3 song, self titled EP and will be releasing their first single "Bring Me Down" early 2018. A major local show announcement and an EP release party will be following the release of the single, and is guaranteed to be nothing short of face melting!!
Members of Hale Road have been invited to share the stage with well know acts such as Econoline Crush, Hail The Villain, The Envy, Jar, Jeff Martin of The Tea Party, Saving Abel, Finger 11, Steven Adler of Guns N Roses, Warrant, The Trailer Park Boys, and many more.
Stay tuned for more info and a sneak peak at their upcoming single and music video for "Bring Me Down".
Bobby's Cane (Vancouver) // https://bobbyscane.bandcamp.com/
Bobby's Cane is a four piece rock group from Vancouver B.C. Their name comes from the lead singer/guitarist Bobby Jeboult who lost his sight and uses a cane. Along with Aaron Giesbrecht(guitar), Nic Campagna (bass), and Sam Cummings (drums) this group has created a sound uniquely their own blending grunge, catchy melodies, and soulful vocals since forming in early 2012.
