Target Audience: Unregulated care providers* and their managers
Topics include preventative skin care related to:
• pressure injuries
• lower leg edema
• skin tears
• skin folds
• minor trauma
As well, participants will learn about the appropriate use of therapeutic support surfaces and pressure redistribution devices; application of compression garments; safe positioning and transfers for people with or at risk for pressure injuries or skin tears; and signs on the skin that indicate a more serious problem (and when to notify a health professional).
* Unregulated care providers include, but are not limited to, personal/home support workers, family/health-care/home/home support/long-term care/resident care/ nurse/patient care/personal aide, patient care/hospital/nursing/personal care attendant, physician/psychiatric assistants and persons at risk** for skin breakdown and/or those persons that care for them.
