Please come to celebrate 19 years of AP Motion Dance Company. From AP Motion’s formation in 1999, the company was intended to be an educational touring company, spreading the art of dance to children in schools. We began rehearsing at Montclair State University on Sundays, with a few very dedicated and enthusiastic dancers. We did a few performances, not at schools, but at the Gallatin Arts Festival in NYC and in the community.

In 2002, I opened the first AP Motion Dance Studio in Watchung, NJ. We grew to over 150 students, but I closed the doors there due to my high risk pregnancy with the twins. I continued to teach classes at Starstruck Dance Studio in Stirling, then rented space at a yoga studio and at a gym in Warren to keep teaching the die-hard, dedicated students that wanted to continue classes with me.

In 2010, when a local Flemington studio closed, Lori Koller approached me and asked if she could use my home studio to teach some students. There began a friendship that has lasted through fire and rain. She has been a mentor, a friend, a shoulder to cry on and a cheerleader who has encouraged me and celebrated with me in the victories. We decided to teach together, form a Nutcracker together, and then she supported and helped build the studio that has been in Flemington as it stands today.

After 19 years, it is with mixed emotions that I close the doors. It is the end of AP Motion, as a name, but what we have built- the friendships, the work ethic, the creativity, the trust among teachers and students- that will last forever. We are moving forward, and I am happy to say that I can now share my passion for ballet with even more students as we move together, forward, to the dance program at HealthQuest.

For this final recital, I am hoping that as many people as possible who have ever been involved with AP Motion, from the foundation through today, can attend. I would like us all to celebrate what we have achieved, what we have created, and what will be growing, moving, and will be shared with more dancers. Please mark your calendars and let’s go out all together, as we all have been part of, as one big AP Motion Family.
