This ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising certification course is June 2 & 3 with Captain Michael Fawcett instructing. As of 4/4/18, there are 4 spots left on this roster. See our Facebook Events for more scheduled courses. We are continuously adding various ASA courses. All it takes for a roster to open up is a 3 student minimum and an available instructor. Rosters are capped at 6 students. Our instructional season goes from March through November, weather permitting. We usually take July and August off because there is not much wind.

ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising at Redbud Marina - Prerequisite for ASA 103 is ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing. This cost includes everything; study materials, instructor, boat time... everything. To sign up and ensure your spot on a roster, you pay $100 deposit which of course applies toward your tuition. If you pay by phone, I mail your materials to you at no extra charge. You may pay your deposit in person and take your study materials with you. Our instructors require their students to read the course book before coming to class. Your remaining tuition is due the morning before class begins. For more information, see below...

Our ASA 103 is a Saturday-Sunday class from 9AM-5PM with a break for lunch. Half of each day is spent on the water sailing and the other half in the classroom. Sometimes, if it's predicted to rain all of one day, you might do all your sailing on one day and all your classroom on the other so just come prepared for anything. If in the event there turns out to be only 2-3 students or less on a roster (due to emergency cancellations), you will complete your full course in just one day. Make sure to bring your textbook and logbook with you both days.

Once you are officially on a roster, we require 2 weeks’ notice if you must reschedule. Our instructors' income is based on the number of students in their class, and once a roster is full, we must turn students away. If a student cancels without proper notice, they take money out of the instructor's pocket and deny a student the chance to book on their desired date. If you no call-no show or do not give 2 weeks’ notice of cancellation, you must pay an additional $100 to ensure a spot on a future roster.

Upon completion of the course and passing your test, we’ll give you a gift certificate for 2 free hours of sailing on our boat. To use your gift certificate, just call us and make a reservation and let us know that you’re using your certificate.

To further inquire, email Ashley at sail@redbudmarina.com
Our offseason hours are Tues-Sat 9AM-5PM. Our inseason hours are Tues-Sat from 9AM-5PM and Sunday Noon-5PM. We are on the South end of Oologah Lake. 9001 E HWY 88 Claremore, OK 74017.

If you take an ASA course from us, we invite and encourage you to take and share photos. When your instructor agrees that it is a safe time to take photos, share your pictures to social media with the hashtag #sailredbud #asa1013 #basiccoastalcruising
