Do you have what it takes to become an ESL/EFL teacher?
Come to our sample workshop and find out!
Teaching English to speakers of other languages is a rewarding career that can help you travel the world, meet people from different cultures and provide you with the opportunity to give back to the community. A TESOL Certificate (along with a Bachelor’s degree in any topic) is the qualifications you need to start your career in the English Language Teaching Industry.
In this workshop, you will experience an example lesson from the TESOL/TEFL course on Teaching Vocabulary. During the sample workshop, you will identify the many strategies a teacher can use to convey the meaning of new vocabulary to her students as well as gain a basic understanding of how to analyze vocabulary from the teacher’s perspective. This will give you a clear idea of the practical and hands-on style of our approach to teacher training. We will then walk you through the TESOL/TEFL course application process (including the requirements to apply) and go over the basics qualifications and requirements needed to apply for an English language teaching job here in the U.S. and abroad.
The Rennert New York TESOL Center offers a university-accredited 4-week intensive course which will prepare you to enter the teaching field with confidence. The course we offer was developed in the 1970s by the School of International Training (SIT) which is an accredited graduate university located in Brattleboro, Vermont. The course is based on the tenants of experiential learning which means that you will learn the ins and outs of teaching by working with real ESL students at our Center in midtown Manhattan. At the end of the 4 weeks, you will have a strong foundation of teaching skills that you will need to enter the job market.
NOTE: Our TESOL/TEFL Certificate course focuses on how to teach adult language learners and is not an accepted qualification to teach in the New York State public school system.
