What does it take to provide medical services in war zones?

Rice Alumni in Medicine (RAM) invites you to spend an evening with fellow alumni in Houston who are practicing in the healthcare industry, starting medical school, residency, fellowship or who are new to the area.

Wednesday, April 18
6:30 p.m.

Grand Hall | Rice University
6100 Main St.
Houston, TX 77005

Attendees will enjoy complimentary refreshments, have a chance to network and will meet Rice alumnus Aaron J Epstein '08, president of Global Surgical and Medical Support Group (GSMSG). He will be giving a brief presentation regarding this incredible organization. We look forward to seeing you!

Aaron J Epstein '08 received his undergraduate degree in Economics and International Policy Studies from Rice and a master's degree in security studies from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. He has worked in defense and national security, focusing on affairs in the Middle East, where he has spent a significant amount of time. After returning from the region in 2011, he refocused his career on global humanitarian and medical work. He is now attending Georgetown University's School of Medicine. Through his organization, GSMSG, Epstein leverages his experience in both networks to provide medical services in conflict areas and austere environments where other aid groups are often unable to go. Possessing intimate knowledge of the damage caused by warfare, he seeks to immediately change realities on the ground by leaving a lasting humanitarian impact on local medical personnel and populations.
