Join Cherise Adams-Burnett and friends for a journey through the rich heritage of Caribbean music and dance as practiced across the world - from Jamaica and Trinidad, to Cuba and New Orleans. Learn call-and-response games and ring dances, and discover the stories behind the rhythms, words and movements of calypso, reggae, conga, carnival procession and traditional folk song. This month, we're exploring Mas & Carnival music.

Great fun and brilliant edutainment for children and the young at heart!
Come along ready to move about and get involved! A participatory workshop suitable for all ages and all abilities. With a series of song and rhythm activities and call-and-response games, it is designed for children and young people to take part in with their older siblings, parents, carers, grandparents (and great-grandparents!). A 50 minute workshop will follow a fun and relaxed warm-up, with each week focusing on 2-3 songs typical of a specific genre of Caribbean music. All participants are encouraged to stay to see for the afternoon jazz jam session. No experience necessary! Come prepared wearing comfortable clothes and shoes.
And then stay to see the Tomorrow’s Warriors young musicians in action, and appreciate how this wonderfully rich culture has informed the equally exciting world of jazz performance from 1pm.
