Join Rising Tide Brewing Company in celebrating March Maine Makers! Each Sunday through the month of March we will feature a different local maker. They will be creating some of their works on site for you to see first hand and will have finished pieces for sale.

The final Maine Maker in our series is Ed Lutjens of Portland Barrel Company. Portland Barrel Company is a small business based in Southern Maine. The business maintains a modest metal and woodworking shop, as well as a sawmill. They manufacture new barrels from locally sourced Maine white oak, quarter-sawn and aged a minimum of 12 months. Primarily, Portland Barrel Company produces 36-gallon white oak barrels to area distilleries for the purpose of aging spirits, as well as to beer and winemakers. We also make a variety of other sized casks, tubs, buckets and other promotional products. As the only manufacturer of new white oaks barrels in New England, Portland Barrel provides a unique product, that adds terrific value and local flavor to the spirits stored within.
