Hudson-based author Shelly Tougas will be at the River Falls Public Library on Saturday, November 11, at 11AM to talk about her new middle-grade novel, "Laura Ingalls is Ruining My Life" (release Oct. 17, Macmillan), her fourth book. (Kirkus review here: https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/shelley-tougas/laura-ingalls-is-ruining-my-life/). The contemporary novel is about a girl who's forced to move to Walnut Grove, Minnesota -- home of pioneer author Laura Ingalls -- so her restless mother can find inspiration while writing her own children's novel.
Shelly will give a presentation titled "Everything Laura Ingalls Left Out of Her Books," about Laura -- how Pa ran off in the middle of the night to dodge his bills, how Laura believed Pa helped hunt down pioneer serial killers "the bloody Benders," (he didn't - the timelines don't match), how daughter Rose helped found the modern Libertarian party and more.
This presentation will be perfect for all ages-- books will be available for purchase at the event.
