The Great Burger Battle will take place Saturday, April 7th from 1pm to 7pm along the Riverfront Shops on Beach Street in downtown Daytona Beach. The event’s showcase is up to 20 different eateries competing for Best Burger plaques, cash and bragging rights.
Each restaurant will have up to three burgers. Burger samples can be cut from full size or served as sliders. Restaurants will sell their “slider sized” burgers direct to the public at prices points between $2 - $5 each. The festival is designed for guests to eat at multiple burger stands and participate in picking the best burgers.
Winning burgers will be chosen two ways. First a team of regional foodies and local celebrities will serve as judges and pick a Judges’ Choice Over-all Best Burger winner and three runner ups. Passports that festival guests will use to navigate the event will not only list all participating eateries and their featured burgers but also include a Peoples’ Choice Ballot which will determine the People’s Choice Over-all Best Burger and three runner-up burgers.
In addition to the Great Burger Battle and tug of war competitions, the festival is part of Super Saturday in downtown Daytona Beach consisting of Art-Attack (an art and craft show), Grits and Glory (a similar competitive grits cooking competition), and National Beer Day celebration (marking the 85th anniversary of the re-legalization of beer in the USA). As well as, live bands, community vendors, sponsor displays, and a kid’s zone.
