9 to 5, The Musical

AUDITIONS: SUNDAY, APRIL 22, 3-6PM AND MONDAY-APRIL 23, 7-10PM

Auditions and Callbacks (If needed) will be held at the Post Theater, Bldg T4.

JULY 13TH, 14TH, 20TH, 21ST, 27TH, 28TH, AUG 3RD & 4TH @ 8PM
JULY 15TH , 22ND, 29TH AND AUGUST 5TH @2PM

*All cast members must be available for every performance.

Synopsis: Pushed to the boiling point, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy, and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy--giving their boss the boot. While Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can't she?

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS AND PREPARATION:

Violet Newstead - LEAD
Female 40’s. Alto Vocals. Violet is a widowed mother of a 15 year old son and senior supervisor at Consolidated Industries. Must be a mover.

Doralee Rhodes - LEAD
Female 30s. Alto/Country Belter. Doralee is a secretary at Consolidated Industries. She is happily married to her husband, Dwayne. She is sexy and often misunderstood. Based on real life Dolly Parton. Dancers preferred.

Judy Bernly - LEAD
Female 30s. Mezzo-Soprano/Belter. Judy is in her 30’s and has never had a job. Recently separated, she joins the firm, a meek and mild mannered woman looking for a change. Strong dance skills required.

Franklin Hart, JR - LEAD
Male 40s/50s. Baritone/Country singer. President of Consolidated Industries, Franklin is a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot. Nondancer.

Roz Keith - SUPPORTING
Female 40s/50s. Alto Belter. Roz is Mr. Hart’s Administrative Assistant. The snitch of the office, she is secretly in love with her boss. Non Dancer.

Joe - SUPPORTING
Male 30’s. Tenor. Joe is an endearing and honest accountant at the firm who is in active pursuit of Violet. Must be a mover.

Dwayne/Ensemble - SUPPORTING
Male 30s. Tenor. Dwayne is the loving husband of Doralee. Must be a mover/dancer.

Josh/Ensemble - SUPPORTING
Male. Must look 15. Spoken part only. Violets son. Must be a mover/dancer.

Russel Tinsworthy - FEATURED
Male 60s. Spoken part only. Tinsworthy is Chairman of the Board at Consolidated Industries. Non-Dancer.

Male Dancers/Ensemble - FEATURED
Adults. Must have extensive dance training.

Female Dancers/Ensemble - FEATURED
Adults. Must have extensive dance training.

ENSEMBLE
Male and Female Adults. Strong vocalists in all ranges. Many small speaking roles available.

*Vocal Auditions: Prepare to sing 32 bars of a musical theater song of your choice, in your key. Please bring sheet music with you to the audition. There will be an accompanist.

*Dance auditions will not include tap dancing. No tap shoes required. Women please bring character heels. Men should wear a flat dance shoe.
