Fair Housing and You!
Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Federal Fair Housing Act

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, help support the local Fair Housing Month Children’s Art Contest

Prairie State Legal Services, HomeStart, and The City of Rockford are holding an art contest for children kindergarten through 5th grade to celebrate the passage of the Federal Fair Housing Act. The contest will bring awareness to children and their families on the importance of an inclusive community. Show support for this event and fair housing by helping spread the word.

The Event:

During the month of April, Rockford children, K-5, will have the opportunity to learn about diversity, discrimination in housing, and a basic knowledge of the Fair Housing Act through an interactive coloring book. Children can demonstrate what they learned by creating art to answer the question:

Think of where you live or play, imagine someone different from you just moved in. How would you welcome your new neighbor?
