No Matter What! with Illana Berger
Koan: Whatever confronts you, don’t believe it. When something appears shine your light on it. Have confidence in the light that is always working inside you. — Linji
I am amazed how often a story takes me down the slippery slope of believing that my life is less than perfect. My dogs don’t seem to worry about whether their life is what they thought it should be. They might have a concern about being fed or walked, but really, they just start nudging and letting me know it is that time. But we humans, we find life difficult, perplexing and often oppressive or disappointing.
To calm ourselves we tend to search outside of ourselves for a solution or an answer. That limited perspective, that there is something out there to find that will be the thing that will finally make us happy, calm, rich or enlightened, will only find something equally limited.
Can we even begin to find that satisfaction, happiness, calm, richness and enlightenment in the life we have right now? Our opportunity with our practice is to see through the stories we carry. That’s where the light comes in. Join me Sunday for a little sharing of our light.
