Rocovery goes for the Saranac 6!
May 11th-13th
Rocovery heads back to the Adirondack’s for a new challenge – the Saranac 6! The goal for the weekend is to hike 6 peaks over the weekend. We will be hiking a total of about 38 miles over very steep, rocky, and challenging terrain. The cost of the trip is $50 per person and is to be paid prior to departure.
If you are going for all 6 – we will be leaving Rocovery promptly at 8 AM on May 11th. WE will head directly to the first trail and plan on completing one or possibly 2 mountains Friday. We will then head to the Wilmington KOA to setup our tents at camp and eat dinner. We will then leave no later than 6 am Saturday, May 12th to get an early start on the trails. We will be travelling at a fast pace to try to get all 6 peaks in.
If you would like to join we but would only like to do one peak, we will try to coordinate times to meet at the top of a mountain (likely Ampersand) at some point on Friday. Please only consider this event if you have hiked at least one high peak and are comfortable reading maps. You will need to have a daypack with at least 3 liters of water and snacks/protein bars to eat during the day.
This will be a camping/hiking expedition and will require camping and hiking gear and wilderness experience. T If you have any questions about the trip or gear, PLEASE ASK as being unprepared for a trip like this could be an unpleasant experience.
We will be hiking Baker, Haystack, St Regis, Scarface, Ampersand, and McKenzie.
Bring plenty of water and dress appropriately for the weather. Well behaved leashed dogs that have good stamina are welcome. An additional requirement is 48 hrs without a drink or drug. Please fill out our online membership at www.rocoveryfitness.org. Hope to see you there!
