The RCC Diversity Programming Board is proud to announce Veteran Appreciation Days -- Nov. 7-8 -- at the Redwood, Riverside and Table Rock campuses. This year we have two veterans events happening simultaneously.
The first event is called "Taking Back My Life: From Victim to Victor.” In 1999, while serving on active duty in the U.S. Navy, Timothy Jones was stalked, raped and hazed. These traumatic events altered the next 20 years of his life. Jones endured a 10-year journey of struggle, hitting his rock bottom. After receiving assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Jones navigated past each adversity, reclaiming his “colorful” voice. Jones’s purpose and mission is to inspire hope and empower healing of those who have had encounters with Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and sexual assault.
Timothy Jones will speak at:
• 11 a.m. Nov. 7 at the Rogue Auditorium at RCC's Redwood Campus, 3345 Redwood Hwy., Grants Pass
• 9 a.m. Nov. 8 in Room 184 at RCC's Table Rock Campus, 7800 Pacific Ave., White City
• 1 p.m. Nov. 8 in Room 132 at the RCC/SOU HEC Building, 101 S. Bartlett St., Medford
Also, the Rogue Valley Veteran History Museum History exhibit will take place at the Redwood and Riverside campuses on Nov. 7-8. Visitors will see collections of war items, photos, vintage military uniforms, and stories from the Civil War to current time.
