Ten years ago a small team of people created Sanctuary One to provide a refuge for animals and a healing place for people while promoting environmental stewardship. They envisioned the idea that people, animals and the earth are better together.
This year we come together to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Sanctuary One and its founder and loyal advocate, Lloyd Matthew Haines. Mr. Haines has always felt that animals and nature are the best instruments for opening a person's heart. The other founders of Sanctuary One felt similarly. When one is healed, all are healed, because we’re all interconnected; that’s the holistic “One” in “Sanctuary One.”
At Sanctuary One, people of all ages have the opportunity to volunteer on a real working farm and experience nature’s healing power firsthand. We offer educational tours that open people’s hearts and minds. We invite groups from schools and youth-serving nonprofit organizations to visit the farm for fresh air, exercise and hands-on service-learning. We grow produce in our learning garden for local food banks. We mentor interns who dream of becoming the next generation of care farmers. We promote the ethics of mindful, sustainable living. And we provide a safe, loving home to rescued farm animals and pets.
As a care farm, Sanctuary One was the culmination of putting animals, people, and the land together to create health and well-being for all involved, whether animal or human. Together we can accomplish this goal and will continue to create magic for years to come.
Join us Saturday June 9th as we gather to celebrate our 10 years of making an impact in the Rogue Valley and honor Lloyd Matthew Haines with our first Visionary Award.
