The Roxbury Arts Group announces an artist talk with over 20 artists currently included in the Contemporary Landscapes exhibit in the Walt Meade Gallery and Hilt and Stella Kelly Hall of the Roxbury Arts Center at 5025 Vega Mountain Road, Roxbury NY. Artists will discuss their processes and thoughts on what landscapes are in today’s culture of art. The artist talk will take place Saturday, April 14 at 2:00 pm, and the exhibit will close upon the completion of the discussion. This event is free and open to the public.
Emerging and established artists will be in attendance to discuss their work. Artists will review their landscape and artistic process before taking questions from audience members in a panel format. Martin Penrose, painter and recent transplant to the Catskills comments in his artist statement, “I paint my environment, the feelings I experience and the complexities I usually cannot find words for.” Photographer Greg Cuda works in a developing format of photography called High Dynamic Range or HDR and will be available to discuss his procedure. Megan Adams Irving is working with clay, slip and glaze as painting materials to produce her landscapes. These artists and more will be on hand to answer your questions.
“With such varied work and concepts of the landscape, this event will give patrons of the arts a well rounded idea of landscapes today and where they may be headed in the future,” says Ann Schwed, Gallery Coordinator of the Roxbury Arts Group. “A large number of mediums are represented in this exhibit and we’re excited that artists representing many of those mediums will be on hand to discuss their processes as well.”
