Located on the Columbia University Medical School campus at the RUSS BERRIE MEDICAL PAVILION, this series highlights the work of contemporary artists from upper Manhattan. This series offers an annual opportunity for a graduate student to take on a curatorial role, gain valuable experience, and learn about creativity in the neighborhood. Presented by The Wallach Art Gallery in collaboration with the Office of Public Programs and Engagement, School of the Arts, and Government and Community Affairs, Columbia University Medical Center.
Chris Daze Ellis, known as Daze, joined the graffiti movement during its early stages in the 1970s. He made a shift from painting on exterior walls to painting on canvas in the 1980s. Daze’sGrey Scale series presents New York City from different vantage points, incorporating stylistic elements affiliated with graffiti art.
