Free. Ohio History Connection’s Building Doctor program is coming to the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums. These clinics take place at locations around the state. Building doctors offer this free seminar on topics like peeling paint and failing plaster, wet basements, deteriorating masonry, windows, wood issues and bringing buildings built before 1955 up to date without sacrificing historic integrity. The seminar is open to all and will take place in the museum auditorium. Registration is required. To register for the seminar, visit https://www.ohiohistory.org/preserve/state-historic-preservation-office/buildingdoctor/building-doctor-clinics.
On May 18, the building doctors will visit ailing buildings within 5 miles of the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums to examine problems and suggest cures. Those interested in having the building doctors look at their home or building must register in advance and be selected. They also are required to attend the free seminar to have a building doctor site visit. To register for a building doctor site consultation, visit https://www.ohiohistory.org/preserve/state-historic-preservation-office/buildingdoctor/building-doctor-clinics. You will be notified if your site is selected for a consultation. The building doctors have visited a variety of buildings built before 1955, such as schools, churches, factories, stores, offices, farm buildings and homes. If selected for a site visit, you will be contacted in advance to schedule an appointment. Sponsored by the Birchard Historic Neighborhood Association and the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums.
