The Northwestern Muslim-cultural Students Association are proud to present Riz Ahmed as 2018 winter speaker in collaboration with South Asian Student Alliance!

Riz Ahmed, also known by his stage name Riz MC, is a British actor, rapper and activist. As an actor, his portrayal of Nasir Khan in HBO’s The Night Of earned him the 2017 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor. His other works include Night Crawler, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Jason Bourne and Star Wars: Rogue One. He will also be starring in the upcoming Marvel and Sony movie, Venom. Musically, Riz is half of the critically acclaimed, hip-hop duo, Swet Shop Boys and he was also featured in the song "Immigrants (We Get The Job Done)" in The Hamilton Mixtape, which topped the Billboard 200 chart. As an activist, he has been involved in raising funds for refugees from Syria and the Rohingya and advocating for their representation. In recognition for all his work, Ahmed was included in the annual Time 100 list of most influential people.

Riz will be sharing with us his experience as a South-Asian British Muslim, while initiating conversation about cultural representations in the media today. We are honored to have him speak, and we hope you will join us at this event.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:45. Seating will be on a first come first serve basis, so please make travel arrangements accordingly.
