BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!!
Join us at the Salt Cave for a complementary Introductory Talk on Meditation with Betty Jones, Saturday, April 28th at 6:00 PM.
Betty Jones taught Transcendental Meditation (TM) for over 30 years and has been retired for over 10 years. She is visiting from California and kindly agreed to do an introductory talk at the Salt Room!
Betty Jones offers a meditation practice known as Guru Dev’s Meditation. This meditation is based on the ancient Vedic Science of Mantra, and is part of the Vedic-based curriculum taught by Betty at the Saraswati School of Meditation and Wellness, Las Vegas. Course offerings include silent deep meditation where we transcend mind; as well as silent and group japa (spiritual practices involving mantra), and various corrective remedial measures as specified by the Vedic masters of Jyotish (Science of Light) and Ayurveda (Science of Life). The practices taught at the School of Meditation are not new, but have been around for over 5,000 years. They were brought to the West by a number of great Indian gurus and saints, three of whom Betty spent many years under direct tutelage.
The number one contributing factor for ill health, dissatisfaction and disease is stress; and the most popular remedy for dissolving stress is meditation. There are a myriad of meditation practices available today, such as mindfulness, affirmation, visualization and transcending, to name just a few – and meditation is generally grouped into three categories: concentration, contemplation and transcending. Concentration and contemplation practices use some degree of effort; they engage the mind and keep it active. Transcending practices do not require effort; but use the natural tendency of the mind, together with the use of mantra (subtle, life-supporting vibration). Think of the art of diving, where you take a correct angle and utilize gravity to do the rest!
The meditation Betty teaches does not require any changes in diet, lifestyle or beliefs, and the benefits of the unique, deep state of restful alertness provided have been borne out in a myriad of scientific studies, indicating that it allows the body to heal and balance, slow the aging process, balance blood pressure, recover from sleep deprivation, improve mental focus and increase emotional happiness.
This meditation is generally practiced for 20 minutes twice daily, sitting comfortably with eyes closed. Anyone can learn to meditate, from children ages five and up. To learn more, please join us at Salt Room LV on Sunday, September 3rd at 4:00 pm, 1958 Village Center Circle, Suite 7, Las Vegas, NV 89134.
