What did the ancient Yogis know about the world we live in today?
Plenty, it turns out.
While technological advances have undeniably impacted our lives - we still breathe, eat, have relationships, work long hours, experience boredom, question ourselves, and face difficulties. Ancient Yogis encountered these same issues and dedicated their lives to studying them, eventually distilling what they learned into gems of wisdom that transcend time so we can use them right here, right now, in our current day lives.
This 4 week class will explore the most pertinent Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, ageless teachings about how to live a fulfilling, happy life whether you ride an elephant or drive a Tesla to work. Yoga, which includes asana, is a highly developed approach of several paths with one aim — to still the mind or, put another way, to unite consciousness in the heart. Using a Socratic method of query and exploration, these classes invite each participant to draw on their intuition, to question their beliefs and assumptions, and to experience Yoga in its broadest and fullest sense.
Two books are recommended for this course:
Inside the Yoga Sutras: A Comprehensive Sourcebook for the Study and Practice of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras by Reverend Jaganath Carrera
The Secret Power of Yoga: A Woman’s Guide to the Heart and Spirit of the Yoga Sutras by Nischala Joy Devi.
