Join us as we explore the beauty and influence of pottery throughout history, from mission era pottery discovered at San Antonio Missions National Historical Park to modern Mata Ortiz pottery artists! The show features Mata Ortiz pottery by Jorge Quintana and Oaxacan woodwork by Jacobo Ángeles.
As artists show their arts in the Visitor Center at Mission San José, park archeologist Dr. Susan Snow will lead pottery demos using historical pottery artifacts near the gate to the mission complex. Join a Park Ranger for a guided program at 10 am & 2 pm (English) or 1 pm & 3 pm (Spanish) on Saturday and Sunday. Inside of Mission San José, view an exhibit of pottery artifacts excavated at the mission sites. At 11 am on Saturday and Sunday, watch as Jorge Quintana fires up the kiln and demonstrates the art of pottery.
Presented by Western National Parks Association. Sales from this art show and daily sales at the Western National Parks Association gift shop at the Visitor Center directly support National Park Service operations, education, and interpretation at San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.
