Our April general meeting will introduce some of our Democratic candidates running for local office (June may be the only election in certain cases!), and provide ways you can get involved in growing the #BlueWave this year. We will also hold a 49th Congressional District Endorsement Vote.
Speakers will include:
Mary Navarro - OC Board of Education, District 5
Duke Nguyen - OC Sheriff
David Dodson - Board of Equalization
Nathaniel Fernandez Epstein - OC Assessor
Brett Murdock - District Attorney

We will also hear from Dana Point Mayor, Debra Lewis,
on candidate recruitment and support.
49th Congressional District DWSOC Club Endorsement Vote

One of the great benefits to our members is the opportunity to have direct impact on the political process! Hundreds of DWSOC members have had several chances to meet and greet candidates for local, state and federal office over the past year by attending our events.

Now it is crunch time!

Recent polling has shown that, with four Democrats splitting the vote in the June Primary, there is a significant likelihood of two Republican candidates winning the Primary leaving us with no Democrats on the November ballot!

Since the recent California Democratic Party Convention did not result in a CDP endorsement for ANY candidate in the 49th Congressional District, our DWSOC club has the opportunity to vote on an endorsement of one of these individuals.

After much discussion with members, we believe the best chance of ensuring a Democratic candidate makes it on the November ballot is to coalesce around a single candidate. As a result, we will hold a vote at our April meeting amongst all current DWSOC members who are registered Democrats, and who paid their membership dues at least 30 days prior to April 12th - as per our bylaws.

We understand that there is a local candidate forum that evening, so the candidates will be unable to be with us in person. We know that many of you have heard them speak, but feel free to go to their campaign websites for further information.
