Looking for a retreat away from life’s ups and downs? Want to use your Yoga practice to explore embracing these inevitable transitions with peace and tranquillity? This retreat will invite ease in both body and mind.

Tune into the rhythms of nature in this beautiful rainforest setting. Practice meditation and Yoga in a purpose-built space nestled deep among the forest. Daily meditation and asana is complemented with a program of workshops and chanting to uplift and open the heart. And there is free time too, for reading, exploring, contemplating and just being. Gaze over the treetops to the Coral Sea while enjoying delicious and healthy Sanctuary meals.

This retreat offers you a 5-day program with highly experienced and evolved teachers:

Swami Shantananda (Mataji) has taken on the responsibility of the life of a Sannyasin, which means that her spiritual evolution and those of her students are her priority. She will support your development in a way that doesn’t develop dependence, but that helps you see yourself more clearly. Mataji is the spiritual director of the Australian College of Classical Yoga.

Sarasvati Sally Dawson was a scientist before she became interested in Yoga and Meditation. She has been teaching Yoga for 16 years and will guide you through your asana practice at the level that is right for you, while also encouraging and supporting your inner exploration. Morning asana will be more active, while your afternoon practice will be nurturing and restorative.

In this retreat we will explore what Yoga really has to give – profound and mysterious, it awakens us to the aliveness and love that surrounds us at every moment. Delve into Mindfulness, where every moment is awareness. We'll look at how we can stay in that open state of peacefulness, and build resilience to the hassles and vagaries of life that occur from being shut out of that sort of state – and you realise that someone long before you understood and lived it, too.

Meditation is the quickest route to a peaceful heart and during this week you get a rare opportunity: to meditate with the natural rhythm of the earth and the animals of the rainforest. In the morning as the light dawns out of the darkness, and in the evening as the great calm descends as the earth rolls away from the sun and into darkness, bringing a sublime feeling of connection with the planet, your home.

Your retreat cost of $1495 includes twin-share accommodation in a rainforest hut, Yoga dinner each night and the full Yoga and meditation program. (Enquire about other accommodation options). For other meals you can use Sanctuary's generous self-catering option or purchase at the healthy and well-priced cafe/restaurant at Sanctuary.
