F.I.S.H. OF SANCAP, with Lee Health, will host Living With COPD on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from noon – 1:00 p.m. at The Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way.

Teresa Summe, Coordinator Asthma Health Management, will lead the discussion by identifying the risk factors leading to COPD and discussing the statistical prevalence of COPD across the nation. This presentation will also review the necessary tools for a definitive diagnosis of COPD, as well as an understanding of COPD anatomy, physiology and symptoms. “Pulmonary function testing for COPD diagnosis is relevant, as well as medication management,” states Summe.

“It is foreseeable that your life will change after being diagnosed with COPD. Not only are there physical challenges, there are emotional challenges too. Ms. Summe will help participants understand the lifestyle changes needed to better manage their COPD and enhance their quality of life. The good news is that there is support available not only for those affected but also for their loved ones, families and/or caregivers,” says Kathy Y. Monroe, M.S.G., F.I.S.H. Program Director. “While living with COPD may be challenging, there are steps you can take to improve your condition. Please join F.I.S.H. and Lee Health for this very important seminar. “
