Join us on Wednesday, April 25, at 6:30pm at the Santa Monica Library for our monthly membership meeting! This month, we will be voting on endorsements for every statewide race on the June primary ballot. And we want to hear from YOU about which candidates should receive our endorsement!
All SMDC members are invited to speak up on behalf of their favorite candidate for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, US Senator, and the rest of the statewide races. If you have a favored candidate you'd like to speak for, please let us know!
We will start the meeting by hearing from three candidates running for Board of Equalization: Scott Svonkin, Tony Vazquez, and Cheryl Turner. They will be joining us to make their pitch for endorsement.
Then we will discuss every race on the primary ballot, opening up the floor to hear from our own members speaking on behalf of each candidate. Message us if you want to reserve a spot to speak for your favorite candidate. We will hear from at least one representative for each candidate before taking a vote. Please plan to attend this meeting so you can make your voice heard and cast your vote!
Our rules for endorsement: A candidate must receive 55% of the vote to be endorsed by the club. If no consensus is reached, there will be a second (and third) round of balloting with any candidate below 20% eliminated from contention.
For first time and new members, the Executive Board of the club will be available from 6:00-6:30 for an informal meet and greet. The main program will start at 6:30pm. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. Parking available. Handicap accessible.
Please note the early start time in order to accommodate our full schedule of voting. We will be starting promptly at 6:30pm.
