Savannah’s observance of Yom HaShoah will take place Thursday, April 12 at the Jewish Educational Alliance.

Keynote Speaker : George Rishfeld, child survivor of the Holocaust

George is alive today because his parents were courageous enough to throw their young son over a wall of a guarded Jewish Ghetto to friends waiting on the other side. Join us as we listen to George’s story of survival and remember the 6 million Jews that did not survive.

This year’s program will include two uplifting songs by Debbie Friedman played by Kelly Blackmarr on the piano.

The Remembrance Day observance will begin at 9:00 am when the names of the children who perished in the Holocaust are read and their memories honored. For nine hours straight, volunteers will read in 15 minute shifts until the evening program begins at 6:00 pm. If you would like to volunteer for this mitzvah sign up at http://bit.ly/2oSreLD
