SCAD presents a conversation with Steven Kolb, president and CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, who will discuss the future of American fashion design with 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Telfar Clemens and finalists Ahlem Manai-Platt and Becca McCharen-Tran.
Clemens is the founder and designer of Telfar, a unisex brand based in New York, New York. Manai-Platt is the founder of Ahlem Eyewear, a luxury eyewear company that specializes in handmade frames from France with an uncompromising attention to detail. Womenswear designer McCharen-Tran of Chromat is known for her stance on empowering women of all shapes and sizes through garments that are a perfect fit every body.
Founded in 1962, the CFDA consists of more than 500 of America's foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry and accessory designers. In 2003, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund was established to cultivate the next generation of emerging American design talent through monetary support and integral mentorship from CFDA members and Vogue editors.
