Schenectady County Public Health Services will be holding a Point of Dispensing (POD) preparedness drill. The goal of the preparedness drill is to be able respond to a biological, chemical or radiological public health emergency, with this drill specifically testing our medical dispensing plans in the case of a real public health emergency.

Volunteers are needed to act as “MOCK” patients in need of medical treatment during the emergency. This will be a MOCK medication dispensing drill and no real medication will be provided. Candy will instead be dispensed to simulate medication. Volunteers will be asked to “register” for a specific medication dispensing time and report to the Schenectady High School main gymnasium. The volunteer portion of the drill will take approximately 30 minutes, with times available between 1pm and 3pm. If able, volunteers may be asked to go through the POD multiple times using different patient scenarios. Those interested in volunteering should visit www.schenectadycounty.com/content/pod-preparedness-drill to register.
