- taking them into our lives

led by Acharya Orhun Cercel
June 29 – July 6 2018

Can we sit and meditate for years without insight or growth? Unfortunately, it is possible.

We can become calmer, more concentrated and yet, as soon as a conflict or crisis arises, as soon as we meet with upset, loss or insult, we often revert to habitual patterns - automatic reactions which can harm ourselves and others.
In this weekthun we will work with teachings and practices from the Shambhala tradition and see how they can be applied to painful human challenges.

We will devote each day to an area of our lives:

family conflicts
“live the challenge “ rather than run from it.

This retreat will include regular meditation practice and talks by Acharya Cercel, dialogues, discussions, contemplations. No prior experience is necessary.

Orhun Cercel lives in London. The son of a diplomat and of primarily Turkish heritage, Orhun was raised in Taiwan, Turkey, Italy, Argentina, and England. He received a BA in Economics and a Masters in International Relations at Cambridge University and worked for several years in investment banking in London. He then began a new career in health, working for many years in Chinese medicine and as a psychotherapist. He has been a volunteer counsellor in NGOs, working with young care givers, and people suffering from chronic illness, anxiety, depression and addictions.

Orhun began meditating in 1990 and attended Vajrayana seminary in 1999. He was involved with the governance of the London Shambhala Centre for many years, in 2010 was appointed a shastri, and later as an Acharya. He is very active teaching in Europe.
