Join us for a "Succulent Terrarium in Glass and Wood Container Mashup" plant night and support Early Grade Literacy!
Early Grade Literacy: Children succeeding is one of the cornerstones of the mission of the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County. According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation's "Early Warning" study, children who are not at grade level reading by the end of third grade continue to fall behind with little chance of catching up to their peers.
In an effort to instill a love of reading into northern Chautauqua children from a young age and help contribute to grade level reading by the end of third grade, United Way began giving books to children in head start through third grade.
The program began six years ago and because of its popularity, we are expanding to include fourth and fifth graders.
When you purchase a ticket to our event, you get an amazing planter that you created and United Way's Early Literacy Program receives $15. With that, we can purchase books for 25 children.
Help us help children to read at grade level and to embrace a love of the written word.
