Equality, Inclusion and Diversity are key themes in graduate recruitment and many organisations recognise that having a diverse work force that reflects the community makes good sense. Many companies find they have under representation in their workforce from people from specific groups.
The Careers and Employability Service are running an event for Black Minority Ethnic (BME) students to raise awareness of positive employers who want to invest in students from a diverse background and to raise awareness of the range of BME diversity programmes available to students. The focus of the session is around why diversity is important to employers and we have invited speakers which include South Yorkshire Police, Irwin Mitchell and Enterprise Rent a Car, to tell us why diversity matters to them. We will also have a Hallam graduate to talk about their experience in the workplace/gaining a graduate role.
There will be an opportunity to chat informally to the speakers over light refreshments. Please also use this as an opportunity to let us know what other events you would like to see the Careers & Employability Service organise, or how we can support you further.
Also in attendance will be BME representatives from the Students' Union.
