Following on from the success of our ‘Spring into Action’ event at Siblyback Lake in February, which saw over 1100 bulbs planted, we will be holding a ‘Pop Up’ event on Wednesday 11 April to help create some wild flower areas at this beautiful site located on the edge of Bodmin Moor.
All are welcome, so why not put on your wellies, grab a rake (if you have one) and ‘pop’ along to Siblyback between 10.00am and 12.00pm.
Nigel Tomkinson, Senior Warden for South West Lakes Trust, said “The areas we will be working on are just in front of the Rock Hopper Café and will link into our new playground, which is due to be installed in the next few months. Our aim is to create areas that are not only more beneficial to wildlife but offer children the chance to have areas for free play, whilst the parents sit back and relax in the café.”
On the day participants will be raking areas which have already had the old amenity grass and top soil removed as well as removing some of the weeds, such as dandelion and dock. This preparation work will give the wildflower seeds the best chance to grow.
Once this has been done participants will then disperse the seeds in the prepared areas. If all goes well, there will be some great wildflower areas on site by summer.
This is a FREE family fun event – no experience is necessary. Why not make a day of it? All those taking part are entitled to a 50% OFF canoe and kayak hire AND 10% off all food and drink purchased from the Rock Hopper Café on the day.
