As nonprofit funding becomes scarce, the need for a well trained and informed volunteer staff is essential to meet labor shortage needs and support added services. The simplified process for recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers is based on a book titled Recruiting Volunteers: A Guide for Non-Profits by Mary Ann Burke and Carl Liljenstolpe.

The focus of this presentation supports community members, program directors, nonprofit staff and leaders in both startup and existing nonprofit businesses.

About The Speaker
Mary Ann Burke

Mary Ann Burke has served as a credentialed parent education volunteer development trainer and fund development adjunct professor for over thirty years in California’s schools. She is the author of four Corwin Press Books on parent and community engagement in schools. Her Recruiting Volunteers and Simplified Grantwriting books highlight how communities can partner together to use volunteers as leaders and as a resource to support services and resources for families and schools. Dr. Burke has presented volunteer training and development, school-community engagement, and fund development strategies at numerous state and national parent and community engagement events. Dr. Burke has an Ed.D. with a focus on Educational Economics and Finance from the University of Southern. She is a certified California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) Chief Business Officer.
