Preservation of culture isn’t automatic for first generation, immigrant, or Indigenous families, and we often need to actively set goals to preserve cultural identity.
I, Denise Leitch of Lingua Garden, will be teaching you some ways for first generation adults to teach their mother tongue to their second generation children. I’ll also share what it‘s like to live in a country other than the one where I was raised and how I have built and operate a successful business in the US.
The presentation will end with a fun Spanish class for families and their children. We encourage all families to join her and participate at no cost!
I was born in Chile and moved to the United States during my senior year of High School. I studied Early Childhood Education, Cognitive and Social Psychology, Child Brain Development, and Art.
For the last 14 years I have been the owner of Lingua Garden where I offer three types of foreign language lessons: nationwide live online classes, prerecorded online Spanish classes, and physical full immersion Spanish classes to families in Boulder, CO area. I also lead and facilitate conferences for Early Childhood Educators nationwide.
