The Denim Day campaign is organized by Peace Over Violence. It began when a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the justices felt that the victim must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent, since was wearing tight jeans. Women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim, the next day.
We ask everyone to wear jeans and post a picture on Wednesday, April 25th, as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual assault.
