Intercultural Center, 2nd Floor Case Center, Skidmore College
Event if FREE and OPEN TO ALL
Throughout the ages, mystics have used the rose as a metaphor for spiritual awakening, growth, and maturity in the endless journey of love. This program will explore these themes through the words of Jalaal ud-Diin Rumi and his master, Shams al-Tabriz. This dramatic presentation will feature poetry, stories, and sayings from Rumi and Shams. It will also incorporate Sufi chanting and a brief group discussion afterward.
On the mystical path of the heart, Nashid Fareed-Ma’at has been influenced by and studied a number of spiritual traditions for over two decades including Kemetic spirituality, Sufism and Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, and Yoga Vedanta. This path has also led him into the arts of writing, particularly poetry, and West African drumming. For more information, you may view his website: www.blueantelopeproductions.com
