Not happy with your prints? Think there may be more on the plate than is printing?
Working with experienced printer Rob White, you will find out how to make more of your etchings, and how to make professional decisions about wiping and adjusting your printing inks to achieve the best results from your plates. Each of the four classes is designed to help you with one aspect of inking and printing etching plates, from choosing inks, modifying ink, to changing the effect of your prints through the use of colour and chine collee.
Because different plates require different techniques to get the best results, the first four classes in the Secrets of the Print Studio series concentrate on etching, and you are invited to bring a range of etching plates to re-print and try out.
Advice will be given an paper preparation, on the best way to dampen paper, and on editioning and drying your prints. A wide range of inks and paper are included.
Try printing in different blacks and find out which is best for your image. Get better results from line work, aquatint, spit bite. Learn how to observe and feel how different makes and colours of inks wipe, and discuss and find out why.
