Kelly is a North Carolina artist who loves nature and boldly curious forms. She transforms industrial wire, metal mesh, cast off paper and ordinary materials into sculptures that aren’t easily identifiable but seem familiar. Her hope is that by bringing color and a bit of playfulness into peoples lives that they can experience the same kind of joy she gets from making the pieces.
One of the things that makes Kelly's work so special is that, completely out of context, her art objects are striking, memorable, and hard to walk away from.
Then, upon further investigation into the artist's inspiration and mission, the viewer learns that environmental issues, land development and the relationship of human activity and nature have been core interests for Kelly throughout her career and the primary focus of much of her personal fine art production.
