One last kick at the can! With winter drawing to a close and spring beginning to present itself, we’re very excited to announce the inaugural “Big Land Banked Slalom”! An event centralized around bringing together snow enthusiasts of all ability levels from across Newfoundland and (mostly) Labrador to enjoy one final squeeze of winter – spring shredding. This race-styled contest will be open to BOTH skiers and snowboarders, of ALL ages.
For those who are unfamiliar, a “banked slalom” is essentially a race which involves participants descending down a course that consists of banks, berms, and flagged areas that participants must properly navigate through and around. There is minimal technical ability required to participate, which means EVERYONE can participate and set their own personal record, and if lucky, potentially acquire the acclaimed title as the “Smokey Sheriff”, which earns you the bragging rights and terms you as the fastest person in all of The Big Land.
Registration starts at 9:00am in the lodge.
Registration fee of $10, which goes into category prize pot.
- Cash prizes and product giveaways.
- Beer specials in the lodge
- "Bring your own grub" BBQ on lodge grill
- Live entertainment and open mic into the evening
