Join Doran Cart as he explores how and why trenches became such a part of World War I. It was a dim and dangerous world of mud, noise and disease. It’s hard for most of us to imagine what life must have been like in the trenches. Cart will also share how trenches were built and about their networks, as well as the conditions and challenges they presented to the fighting men within them. Ultimately, did trenches do the job they were supposed to or did they fall short?
Cart is the Senior Curator for the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City.
This free presentation is offered at the Smoky Hill Museum on Thursday, April 5 from 5:30-6:30 pm.
