Saturday at the Farm: Garden Clinic & Plant Sale
Saturday, April 7 • 9am to 3pm • American River Ranch
Every season at the American River Ranch is unique and beautiful. We have planned a day of activities the whole family will enjoy including a pop-up Farmstand in the barn with fresh-from-the-field spring vegetables. Learn how to grow vibrant, tasty and healthy plants from our knowledgeable staff and community educators. Register for free classes, tours, walks and talks at the Welcome Tent. Tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited.

Collaborative Plant Sale
Visit the plant sale to fill your spring garden with native plants from Elderberry Farms Nursery, vegetable starts, edible perennials, medicinal and culinary herbs, succulents and flowers.

Native Plants: California Native Plant Society will have plants for sale in Elderberry Farms Nursery. Check out their demonstration gardens and talk with nursery volunteers.

Vegetables, Flowers & Herbs: Purchase organic vegetable and flower starts grown in the Soil Born Farms Greenhouse. Choose from organic culinary and medicinal herb starts.

Succulents: Shop for beautiful additions to your indoor and outdoor garden from The Succulents Marketplace. Consult with succulent expert Pamela Marentis.

Cut Flowers: Take home floral bouquets from Flower Mama.

Mushroom Growing Kits: Fun with fungi from Treetop Permaculture.

Volunteer Activities • 9:30am to 12:30pm
Field Days: Interested in a new way to get fit and work up a sweat? Experience a day in the life of a farmer. Help with seasonal tasks and learn about the daily work required to maintain an organic farm. Activities for April 7:
•Early spring planting
•Spring cleanup in the veggie fields
•Preparing the orchard for spring

Pop-Up Farmstand • 9am to 3pm
Visit us in the barn and take home: Lettuce: Green Gem lettuce, green leaf lettuce heads, red leaf lettuce, red butter lettuce heads; Chicories: Frisee, escarole; Greens: Red Russian kale, Dino kale, Rainbow chard, spinach, arugula; Roots: Red radishes, salad turnips; Alliums: Spring onions, green garlic, scallions, leeks; Herbs: parsley; Misc: Culinary herb starts and practical gifts.

Phoebe’s Tea & Snack Bar • 9am to 3pm
Delicious Magpie baked goods, organic coffee, herb tea and other beverages.

Culinary Arts Demonstrations • 9am to 1pm
Eat Your Veggies: Learn how to prepare seasonal produce in simple and delicious ways. Tasting samples, recipes and nutritional information will be available.

Peasants’ Lunch Fundraiser • 11:30am to 2pm
A simple lunch prepared by the Culinary Arts team of red bean and vegetable soup, garden salad with champagne dressing, garlic bread and a brownie will be served at the Farmhouse Kitchen. $8 donation.

Fun for Kids • 9am to 3pm • FREE
Kids’ Activity Tent in the Barn: Make an herb sachet to take home.
Enchanted Garden: Explore the enchanted garden to find magical creatures, build a gnome home in the garden, and decorate a fairy door to take home.

Free Bike Safety Checks • 9am to noon
Live Music: Millington Strings • 10am to 1pm
