alongside kev munday's current exhibition, artist sarah filmer will be hanging out in showcase gallery inviting you to #standtogether with women for international women's day.
inspired by the 100 year anniversary of the first successes of the suffragette movement, we will draw around anyone who will pledge to #pressforprogress towards gender parity - what will be your 'deeds not words' ? gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but provides a firm foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. let's talk about what each of us can do to work towards equality. as we talk, you can make a paper pot and plant some violet seeds to take home for your garden ('seeds not words' .... ?)
sarah will be in the gallery on tuesday and wednesday from 11am -1pm and on thursday evening from 6-10pm. she will also bring her ongoing knitting project Knit the walls to the gallery on saturday from 12 - 4pm, and invites you to join her in creating a knitted version of southampton's medieval walls.
