Presenter/Performers by April 30th
3-Day Participants by May 30th
1-Day Participants by June 5th
Our weekend will be devoted to exploring the art of skating through a new lens -- away from the rules, the technical demands and conventional practices. The first day will consist of seminars where presenters will focus on a topic they are interested in further exploration. This means we don’t necessarily need presenters to be “experts” in their presentation, but merely to start a conversation on movement practices within the art of skating. Examples could include methods of improvisation, creative usage of body levels, using a specific dance genre to influence on-ice movement, and exploration in movement using unconventional timing and tempo.
This event is an open space -- a meeting of artistic minds and bodies -- for coaches, choreographers, and professional skaters to share their artistic philosophies, improvise and create together, and perform choreography at the Sunday Showcase. If you or anyone you know who is a coach, choreographer, professional skater, or skater over the age of 17 who might like to attend - please share!
