Workshop Details:

Improvisation is a state of being and creating action without any kind of pre-planning. “All the world’s a stage” said William Shakespeare, and in my work with art therapy and drawing movement, I’ve found the benefits of improvisation apply well beyond the studio.

Around 30 years ago improvisation and creativity were believed to be skills that couldn’t be taught–they were seen as inherent talents. In the years to come, this would be proven untrue, and it's critical we see creativity and improvisation as a muscle to be practiced.

The main difference between improvisation and creativity is that creativity requires perseverance and a certain amount of critical criticism, whereas ingenuity and improvisation relies on the performer being able to accept herself; be self-evoked.

Improvisation plays a large role in our daily lives, and can be used as a form of personal development– a tool to bring hope to many people. Spend a few hours this week improvising and see how being self-evoked enhances everything, from short term memory and the ability to be present to adapting and responding to unexpected situations.

N/B Participants have to wear black clothes since charcoal will be used.
