Southern Oregon University is proud to present Earth Week 2018! The theme of this years Earth Week is "Think Global, Act Local." All events are open to both SOU students and community members. Events include film screenings, workshops, bike rides, and much more!

Gabe Sheoships: How do We Create Equitable Spaces Within Our Public Lands?
Gabe Sheoships, a biologist, educator, and member of the Cayuse and Walla Walla Nations, will be facilitating a discussion to explore what a relationship with nature means, how we can provide inclusive and equitable spaces within our public lands and natural areas, and how we can begin to work toward healing severed relationships with our land.
Join the Hawk for Meatless Monday on Monday, April 16th. During the lunch and dinner hours, exclusively vegan and vegetarian options will be available at the four core stations: Vegé, Arriba, Red Plate, and Rossi Mattoni's
Earth Day Extravaganza
Come join the ECOS Sustainability Resource Center for an afternoon of interaction with local groups, organizations, and students! Learn, engage, and interact with others from our community in sustainability focused work and find out what you can do to become more involved in the community around you.
A viewing and discussion of the documentary Maquilápolis with the Women’s Resource Center. This documentary highlights the connections between industrialization, human rights violations, and environmental devastation. This film was chosen because of its intersectional approach to examining environmental justice issues.
Sustainable Investment: Supporting Divestment at SOU
Join ASSOU in the Courtyard to learn about how to make sustainable investment a reality on the SOU campus. Talk with your student government representatives and make your voice heard in the conversation about divestment about SOU!
Recyled Fashion Workshop
Interested in learning more about environmentally friendly fashion? Join us for a workshop on eco-conscious clothing construction and creative purchasing!
Age of Consequences Screening
Join the VRO for a screening and discussion of the film Age of Consequences, which looks at climate change through a national security and military perspective. We will also be providing popcorn!
Planting Terracotta Pots w/Succulents
Come down to Raider Village to plant your own succulent and decorate your own bucket. First 140 people get a plant and bucket!
Pollinator Habitat Planting
Come down to the Taylor lawn to be a part of the Bee Team's Planting Party, and help to transform our grounds into pollinator habitat!
Decorating Reusable Shopping Bags
Join RHA to decorate reusable canvas shopping bags! We'll have plenty of craft supplies to personalize your bag however you see fit.
Emigrant Lake Bike Ride
Join the Transportation Options branch of ECOS for a chance to get out and enjoy a bike ride to Emigrant Lake! There will be food and games upon arrival to the site. Bring your friends and your bike, or bikes are available for rental at the Outdoor Program for free!
Love pollinators? Join OSPIRG at the SOU farm to celebrate and learn about the important animals and insects that keep plant life beautiful and diverse!

Crag Clean Up
Join the Outdoor Program for a day of climbing, clean up, and trail restoration out at Ashland’s local Crag. This is a great opportunity to give back to the land we recreate in. Lunch and transportation provided. Sign up on Sou Connect!
No Straw Challenge
Join the Recreation department for Earth week as embark on a #nostrawchallenge! Prevent waste and protect animals from plastic by only using reusable straws this week. As an extra challenge try to collect any straws that you may accidentally use as the week progresses!
