Join us for a special edition of the People's Community Sing on Sunday, April 8! This Sing will be led by special guest Dr. Ysaye Maria Barnwell, former member of Sweet Honey In The Rock, who is a master teacher and choral clinician in African American cultural performance. Dr. Barnwell's community sing in Washington, DC has been my inspiration for building a vocal community in New Orleans.
This will replace the People's Community Sing, which is usually held on the first Sunday of the month.
We can use singing together to practice all we need to be ready to fight, to transform, to survive, to be powerful in the face of whatever we need to do. Singing helps us to be ready for whatever comes.
Join us for this special Community Sing at SUNO - let's lift each other up for the fight and for building what we need to live.
No need to know how to sing. Children and elders make every sing better, so bring some friends and come be with us with the whole family!
We will gather at Dr. Millie Charles Hall at SUNO.
