Unpacking the Body: Our bodies hold the stories of our lives. Every memory, every joy, every heartache, every look of longing sinks into the maps of our movement. So we move to unpack the weight of these stories. To shake them free from the container of our body so we can hold nothing in our hearts. So our hearts can be open and as vast as the sky.
As we move in this workshop we will work through the weight of our past and come to a place where we can simply embrace the space.
This is gentle and nurturing, focused on contacting our bodies in a loving way. And, we can guide for ourselves how vigorous or gentle according to the personal stories we choose to move through.
We will begin with a more codified yoga flow, and then move from the mats. We will progress through floor work, through dynamic pranayama, through sound expression, and find a crescendo in free form movement.
This practice is for anyone and everyone, it is a therapeutic way to find the center of your heart. In this movement we trace back the thread to all things that make you feel alive.

Sarena Kabakoff has been losing herself through movement since she was a child. She immediately knew that it was both her purpose and passion in life. She graduated from temple university with a BFA in Dance. Now she is driven to use movement as a modality for healing. She had been teaching dance to grieving children, as well as teaching Yoga to the cancer support community. Her philosophy is that movement can be a medium to move us through our darkest places and awaken new avenues of light.

For these monthly women-centered offerings, we use an inclusive definition of “woman” and “female” and we welcome trans women, cis and non-trans women, gender-nonconforming and genderqueer women and females, and non-binary people who identify to themselves as significantly female.
(Other events at the space unless otherwise noted welcome all/no genders.)

^Each month on a Friday near the new moon, a guest teacher facilitates a somatic/body/movement oriented workshop/class from 5:30-7pm, followed by open time in the red tent temple from 7-9pm. Women can attend the class and stay for the red tent, or come for one or the other. Please message Space 2033 if you have an offering for one of these 5:30-7 monthly classes.
