The practices offered on this retreat will emphasize the ancient roots of mindfulness-based stress reduction, especially the four foundations of mindfulness first taught by the Buddha. Daily meditation instructions, sustained moment-to-moment practice, and a silent environment will all support participants in deepening experiences of both practicing and understanding these essential teachings. Mindfulness in the body, whether sitting, standing walking, or lying down, and including mindful movement, will be a primary support for our practice. Some previous mindfulness meditation experience may be supportive, but is not required. Beginners and those with experience in yoga are welcome.
The course will include a full daily schedule of sitting and walking practice, lying down and standing meditation, twice daily mindful hatha yoga, and evening talks. On the first evening and the last day of the course there will be opportunities for group dialogue about practice. During the retreat there will also be brief meetings with the teacher to discuss the unfolding of the practice.
